At a steady pace after his hit single “Pobre Diablol” the young singer-songwriter Kevin Ortiz has just released his most recent record material entitled “What we have achieved.”

Kevin Ortiz, brother of singer/songwriter Gerardo Ortiz has been able to prove his own success since the birth of his career. The brother’s ties to regional Mexican musical traditions run deep and wide. Both of their parents are from Sinaloa, the most prominent state in Mexico in terms of agriculture. Kevin grew up watching his father and brother play different instruments, which led him to follow their steps at an early age.

“Playing the guitar with my dad and Gerardo was something that started to get me interested in music, and as the years went by I began to stick to the idea of entering the world of music,” recalls Kevin.

At the age of five, he began playing the accordion and the guitar. Singing was just something he did only among his friends. At the age of 14 Ortiz began to feel the temptation to jump into singing after watching his brother’s career develop. During this time Gerardo revealed his new record label Badsin, to help his brother’s career take off.

In 2014 he recorded his first single in collaboration with his brother Gerardo, “Tal como eres.” After the release of the single, he assisted his first awards ceremony where the brothers won an award for “Revelation of the year.” From that moment forward Kevin felt his career take off.

Gerardo wrote his first single, “Un Minuto,” released in July of 2013, and it got significant airplay. Althought the brothers are very close Kevin’s style on his first album consisted of mostly romantic ballads instead of corridos. It reached number five on the Hot Latin Albums chart and top spot on the Regional Mexican Albums list as well.

In just a few years Ortiz has toured all over Mexico and in the United States. He reentered the studio in 2015 and emerged with Mi Vicio, Mi Adicción in February of the following year. It featured collaborations from Gerardo on “Volverá” and Beto Vega on “A Los 18” (both corridos), and the surprising cumbia “Que Sí, Que No,” featuring Colombian reggaetoñero Maluma. The album entered the Mexican Regional Albums chart at number two and the Hot Latin Albums chart in the same spot a month later. The record had staying power and continued its way up to the second spot on the Mexican Regional Albums chart after its release.

Demonstrating a more mature facet in this album, you can find for the first time four songs by Kevin Ortiz titled “Indudablemente ”,“ Ando Al 100 ”,“ La Vida Del Sicario ”and“ Tus Labios Carnosos ” written in conjunction with the young composer Rubén Salazar.

It should be noted, in the album you can also enjoy a variety of corridos, songs and cumbias with a total of 11 songs, which the singer hopes will be liked by his loyal fans.
