Conoce a Erika Gonzalez de Maya Properties (Meet Erika Gonzalez from Maya Properties)

Erika González, co-propietaria de Maya Properties nació y creció en Tyler.

Erika siempre amó los autos tanto que pensó que algún día iba a ser una vendedora de autos.

Al ser la mayor de sus hermanas, siempre fue la traductora de sus padres y las ayudó con todas las facturas y el papeleo que debían completar, leer o explicarles.

A los cinco años ya sabía sobre impuestos a la propiedad, seguros y registro de automóviles.

Tratar con todo eso a una edad temprana ayudó con su experiencia como adulto.

Después de graduarse de la escuela secundaria Robert E. Lee, asistió a Tyler Junior College y comenzó a trabajar en un consultorio médico.

Mientras trabajaba en el consultorio de un médico, Erika conoció al esposo de su asistente médico, Russell Patterson.

“Escucharía mis conversaciones con los pacientes y diría que necesitas ir a los bienes raíces”, dijo Erika.

Erika debatió entre los profesionales y los contras de los bienes raíces en funcionamiento debido a que era una comisión estrictamente, pero en marzo de 2015 decidió arriesgarse todo. Ella completó todo y se convirtió en agente de bienes raíces en septiembre de 2015.

Más tarde, Erika conoció a su esposo Gustavo, con quien tuvo dos hijos, ambos varones, Gustavo y Gavin.

“Él es un gran apoyo. No podría estar haciendo esto si no fuera por él ”, dijo Erika mientras describía a su esposo.

Erika recuerda la sensación de intentar comprar una casa y no creer que podría hacerlo por varias razones.

“Cuando fui a la mesa de cierre lloré, así que ahora poder compartir eso con mis clientes no tiene precio”, dijo Erika.

En febrero de 2016 tuvo su primer cierre y desde ese momento en adelante ha mantenido un flujo constante de clientes. Incluso había personas que esperaban que ella obtuviera la licencia para poder ayudarlos.

Sus padres, Rafael Maya y Maria Bustos, han sido una inspiración para que ella y su hermana Maritza tengan éxito.

En 2016, Erika se convirtió en la Secretaria del Consejo de Agentes de Bienes y Raíces para mujeres, se unió a la junta directiva de The Hispanic Business Alliance en 2018 y se unió a TREPAC.

“Gracias a Dios por tomar mi mano porque no es una carrera fácil, mi familia, mi esposo … este trabajo requiere largas horas y fines de semana. Estoy agradecido por mis clientes y la comunidad que nos apoya. Sentí que aquí es donde necesitaba estar. Dios nos presenta a las personas por una razón, si no fuera por Russell, no estaría aquí. Duermo y respiro bienes raíces, me encanta “, dijo Erika,” cuando me retire planeo ir a trabajar para Disney, pero aparte de eso, no me veo haciendo nada más “.

 

Erika Gonzalez, co-owner of Maya Properties was born and raised in Tyler.

Growing up Erika always loved cars so much she thought she was going to be a car salesman one day.  

Being the oldest of her siblings she was always the translator for her parents and helped them with all the bills and paperwork that needed to be filled out, read or explained to them.

By age five she already knew about property taxes, insurance and auto registration.

Dealing with all of that at an early age helped with her experience as an adult.

After graduating from Robert E. Lee high school she attended Tyler Junior College and began working at a doctors office.

While working at a doctor’s office Erika met their physician assistants husband, Russell Patterson.

“He would hear my conversations with patients and he would say you need to go into real estate,” Erika said.  

Erika debated between the pro’s and con’s of working real estate due to it being strictly commission but in March of 2015 she decided to risk it all. She completed everything and became a Realtor in September 2015.

Erika met her husband Gustavo in 2003 when she took her camaro to the shop.

“He drove a convertible and asked me to trade cars, me being a young crazy girl who loved cars – especially convertibles, believed him,” Erika laughed, “the convertible attracted me, not him, that came later.”

They married two years later and had two children -both boys, Gustavo and Gavin.

“He’s very supportive. I could not be doing this if it wasn’t for him.” Erika said as she described her husband.

Erika remembers the feeling of trying to purchase a home -not believing she would be able to for several reasons.

“When I went to the closing table I cried, so now to be able to share that with my clients is priceless,” Erika said.

In February 2016 she had her first closing and from that moment forward she has kept a consistent flow of clients. She even had people waiting for her to get licensed to be able to assist them.

Her parents Rafael Maya and Maria Bustos have been an inspiration for her and her sister Maritza to be successful.

In 2016 Erika became the Secretary for The Women’s Council of Realtors, joined the board of directors for The Hispanic Business Alliance in 2018 and joined Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee (TREPAC).

“Thank God for holding my hand because this is not an easy career, my family, my husband..this job requires long hours and weekends. I’m grateful for my clients and community that supports us. I felt like this is where I needed to be God introduces us to people for a reason, if it wasn’t for Russell I wouldn’t be here. I sleep and breathe real estate, I love it,” said Erika, “When I retire I plan to go work for Disney but other than that I don’t see myself doing anything else.”
